Beatitude 9
Blessed are those
who hear the word of God
and obey it.
(Luke 11:28)
The hands of God hold and break the bread of life. The crumbs from this loaf of bread, representing the word of God, fall on the men below who await it eagerly. One has a shepherds crook showing that he is one who will pass on the word to others through his authority in the church. The desire for the word of God and thirst for salvation. The word of God is shown by a stream flowing from between the mountain. Below, Moses is shown with the Ten Commandments, showing one form of the word of God being given to the people below.
