The Rich Man and the Beggar(Luke 16:19-31) The rich man dines sumptuously at his table while outside his gate sits Lazarus, a beggar, covered with sores and desirous to be fed with the crumbs that fall from his table. Even a dog comes and licks his sores. When the beggar dies, the angels carry him to Abraham. When the rich man dies, he goes to hell where he is in torment. He asks Abraham to send the beggar to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool his tongue because of his agony in the fire. [Abraham says to the rich man, "Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony."] NIV Bible
