The Laborers(Matthew 20:1-16) The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who goes out early in the morning to hire men to work in his vineyard. The first laborer is shown working all day under the heat of the sun. The second laborer works less with the sun in the western sky. Whereas the third one works only an hour beginning when the sun is almost set. At the bottom, the householder pays the men all the same wage. The one who has worked less receives his money happily while the others mutter. The scales denotes justice. [The landowner tells a disgruntled laborer, "I am not being unfair to you. Didn't you agree to work for a denarius? Take your pay and go. I want to give the man who was hired last the same as I gave you. Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?" The last will be first, and the first will be last.] NIV Bible
