Guidelines for Use of Temple Hills

  1. Pets must be kept on a leash at all times. Picture of dinner bell at Temple Hills
  2. Each group must furnish its own food, dish towels, detergents, matches, paper towels, napkins, bedding, and personal toiletries.
  3. Check the map hanging in the retreat center lodge and stay on Temple Hills property.
  4. All Swimmers swim at their own risk.  Swim only in the marked area at the end of the lake closest to the retreat center lodge and only in the presence of an adult capably serving as a lifeguard.  Never swim alone!   Swimming is permitted from Memorial Day to Labor Day only.
  5. There is a telephone at the caretaker's house for emergencies.  Please pay the caretaker for any long distance calls.
  6. A doctor and hospital are available at Oakland City or Huntingburg, IN (15 minutes).
  7. No standing tree, dead or alive, is to be cut.  Down timber may be cut for campfires or fireplace use.  Build no fires except in marked fire circles.
  8. No firearms or illegal fireworks are allowed at Temple Hills.
  9. No alcohol and drugs are allowed at Temple Hills.  All groups are expected to see that neither are used.
  10. Lodge renters as well as campers should collect all trash and either take it out with them when they leave or deposit it in the dumpster located near the road on the way out.
  11. Sweep all rooms in the lodge before leaving.   Leave mattresses flat on each bed.  Turn off water and lights!
  12. Set the thermostat at a reasonable level for comfort and energy use while using the lodge.  Upon departure, set the thermostat at 62 degrees during heating season and 80 degrees during the cooling season.
  13. All youth groups must be properly chaperoned.   At least two adults are required to attend groups numbering more than 10 persons.

VIOLATION OF RULES SHALL PROHIBIT FURTHER USE OF TEMPLE HILLS.

Temple Hills has been made available to provide retreat and family camping facilities.  These facilities have been provided largely through gifts from members of the Methodist Temple.  Your use should reflect an understanding of Christian stewardship of the material world.

This agreement does not grant exclusive use of the grounds to any lodge group unless additional fees are paid to reserve other areas of the retreat grounds.  You may be sharing recreational areas.  It is understood that all activities at Temple Hills will be undertaken at each persons own risk and that Temple Hills and The Methodist Temple will not be held liable for any accidents occurring on Temple Hills property.

I have read the list of guidelines for the use of Temple Hills above, and I will be responsible to see that our group abides by these guidelines (if a youth group, the president or chairman of the retreat should also sign).
